Olivia Rose

The Olivia Rose is an English Rose variety bred by the English rose breeder David Austin. Throughout his work, he introduced more than 190 roses to the public. He named his roses in honor of geographical landmarks, historical events of England, and the works or characters of British writers.

Olivia Rose

The Olivia Rose was named in honor of Austin’s daughter and was introduced to the public in 2015. It resembles the classic English roses. Its flowers are multi-petaled and reminiscent of historical roses. They can be used to adorn borders, decorate parks, or add color to small plant groups, as English roses, due to their vigorous, bushy growth, are essential elements of mixed borders.

The large, fully bloomed flowers display beautiful shades of pink and apricot, with a delicate rose fragrance. The flowers can have a diameter of 10-12 cm, and the bushes typically grow to a height of 120-140 cm. One characteristic of this rose is its continuous blooming throughout the summer and the long stems on which multiple flowers open. The Olivia Rose Austin is a repeat-flowering rose, meaning it can bloom for several years if properly cared for. Its flowers are multi-petaled and reminiscent of historical roses.

Caring for Olivia Rose

The Olivia Rose Austin rose generally prefers sunny or partially shaded areas, but it should receive at least 4-5 hours of sunlight. It thrives best in good-quality, nutrient-rich soil. It is worth fertilizing the soil twice a year with fertilizer. Watering should be done regularly, but care should be taken not to overwater the plant. The rose is usually pruned in the first spring after planting, and throughout the season, faded flowers should be regularly removed.

They bloom in multiple waves from mid-summer to autumn. During their flowering period, they require ample watering. It is worth fertilizing the soil twice a year with fertilizer. They are light-demanding plants and can be planted in partial shade, but they should receive at least 4-5 hours of sunlight. It is also important to avoid placing them directly against a wall, as they do not tolerate direct sunlight and rain shadow well.

Purchasing

Numerous varieties of English roses can be found in most nurseries, and it is worth choosing among them. The Olivia Rose Austin rose can also be found in nurseries and online rose retailers. Since it is a relatively new variety, it may not be available everywhere, but by searching online, you can find places that sell it.
